Diazo, gelatin silver prints, polaroid and mexed media: 11" x 6 " (1983)

A women's peace encampment was formed next to an army base near Senaca Falls, NY, to protest the presence of nuclear arms secretly stored at the base. To counter a predictable anti-woman response, I made a series of portraits of individuals which combined footprints indicating a physical presence, polaroid snapshots and handwritten statements. Enlarged contact prints framing the portraits were documents of protest marches at the site.
